Yesterwynde is the 10th studio album by Finnish symphonic metal giants Nightwish, released on September 20, 2024. Produced by Tuomas Holopainen, the album marks the final installment of a conceptual trilogy that began with Endless Forms Most Beautiful and continued with Human. :II: Nature.

The album delves into themes of time, history, humanism, and mortality, with a hopeful undertone. Notably, it is the first album without longtime bassist Marko Hietala, featuring Jukka Koskinen as the new permanent bassist. Recorded across Finland and the UK, the album incorporates both English and Tongan lyrics, with rich orchestral arrangements recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

Yesterwynde was highly anticipated, with three singles preceding the release: “Perfume of the Timeless,” “The Day of…,” and “An Ocean of Strange Islands.” The album spans 71 minutes, featuring complex compositions like the title track “Yesterwynde” and the epic “The Antikythera Mechanism.”

Nightwish’s decision to take a touring break for the next 2-3 years makes Yesterwynde a particularly significant release for fans, as they dive deep into the album’s conceptual and musical brilliance.
