Tom Morello didn’t mince words after the US midterm elections. The Rage Against The Machine guitarist welcomed the results, which he sees as a rejection of Donald Trump and his policies. For him, however, this is only the beginning, and the real work starts now.
Tom Morello openly criticizes Donald Trump
In a video posted on social media, Morello condemned racism, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, wars abroad and the use of taxpayer money to fund wars instead of supporting schools, hospitals and people in need.
He said: “It was a rejection of all those little assholes who think they’re Nazis and support Trump. It was a rejection of Trumpism in general, and that’s a good thing. But now the real work begins.”
For Morello, the elections are only a first step. He is urging Americans to keep organizing.
“Now that the elections are over, it’s up to each of us to keep fighting for the world we really want. Without compromising, without making excuses and without letting those fuckers get away with it.”
Morello is known for his political views. That does not, however, mean he supports the Democratic Party. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed that he had not voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, without specifying whom he had voted for.
