Sepultura played their final show on November 7 at Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo, Brazil, after more than 40 years together. Several guests joined the band for the occasion, which also featured songs that had been absent from their setlists for years.
Sepultura bid farewell in São Paulo
Musicians joining the band onstage included former Sepultura guitarist Jairo Guedz, João Gordo of Ratos de Porão and Moyses Kolesne of Krisiun. Max and Iggor Cavalera, however, were absent.
Sepultura also played several rarities, including Itsári, which had not been performed live since 1998. Altered State, We’ve Lost You and Reza also featured in the setlist. The night closed with Roots Bloody Roots.
The event was originally scheduled to take place at a 26,000-capacity venue. However, it was moved to Suhai Music Hall, which holds around 9,000 people. Krisiun, Sacred Reich and Metal Allegiance opened the show.
What comes next?
This final performance brought the Celebrating Life Through Death farewell tour, which began in March 2024, to a close. A live album featuring 40 songs recorded in 40 different cities is still planned for 2027.
Andreas Kisser has also left the door open to reuniting Sepultura someday.
